St. Paul's Mission's Trip to Camp Daniel

St. Paul's Lutheran Church from Sheboygan Falls sent a mission's team to serve 4 days. There were a lot of different tasks to fit a variety of different skill levels.  It was a great time for church members to grow closer together as a church, as well as, in their personal families. It was also a good opportunity for them to learn more about Camp Daniel and experience the value of people with disabilities.

It was very exciting to see the siding for the barn go up!

The fitness center and foyer in the barn was primed and painted.

Patches were sewn on aprons for Carnival Day!
This is Amanda, she is going to be one of our summer interns this year!

Several of the gals spent many hours peeling vinyl lettering for T-shirts. Some of the gals also made about 600 cupcakes for summer camp!

Several of the guys built our newest trailer - The Carnival Trailer! It will house all the carnival games and decorations and be able to readily move from camp here to summer camp in Wausaukee.

Here it is finished, yet to be painted and decorated to fit the carnival theme.
The kids had several fun jobs including tearing out old pages from the counselor manual. They also cleaned fish tanks for the nature center, weeded the nature trail, and helped where they could.

Thank you St. Paul's Lutheran Church for all your hard work! We are very grateful!

If you would like your church or organization to come serve at Camp Daniel, we would love to set up a trip for you! Contact info@campdaniel.org or 715-757-3880.

Busy Time of Year!

This recent busy round of events started the last weekend of May with a Girl Scout Retreat that we hosted here at camp. The weekend provided a great mother-daughter time with fun activities, including a tea party and group games. The weekend also served as a service project for the troop as they did some spring cleaning and helped with projects for camp.

The following weekend marked our 6th annual Dance 4 Disability (D4D) held at the Grand Pavilion at Bay Beach in Green Bay. It was a great success with close to 300 in attendance.

This event brings together people with disabilities, along with many organizations, families and caregivers, to celebrate the disability community.

After the dance, the Burys hit the road for Muskegon, MI to serve a week at Joni & Friends Family Retreats. Jen started her first connection with disability ministry 11 years ago with Joni & Friends Retreats.

JAF Retreats are a lot like Camp Daniel with themes and costumes. The theme this year was "All Things Are Possible", using The Mission Impossible motif. The Burys used their Unbelieveable costumes from Camp Daniel's Trust theme.

JAF Retreats are unique in that the entire family with someone with a disability attends. There are opportunities for mom's to get together, dads, and siblings. When Camp Daniel's grounds are complete, we will be able host family camps!

Then this past weekend, Annissa and Ruth had their graduation party here at Camp. It was also a party for Anthony, as he graduated from the 8th grade.

Annissa will be attending Madison Area Technical College for Event Planning and Ruth will be attending UW La Crosse for Recreational Management.
Anthony will be attending Crivitz High School. :-)

Thanks to all those who helped with and/or attended all these events!

Marceaux and Jen cleaned windows and put screens on.
Karol made prize display bins for the carnival!
Karol has also been busy with finalizing the camp schedule, as well as, making signs and decorations for camp.

Newest Missionary at Camp Daniel!

Welcome Chalsee, the newest missionary at Camp Daniel! Chalsee moved to the Brunot House the beginning of May. Here she is pictured with her roommate, Trish (left).

Chalsee has been attending camp since she was 8 years old and for many years desired to live at camp. She graduated from Kewaunee High School and attended NWTC - Green Bay for 2 years. Her favorite classes were Gardening, Art and Cooking! These classes were perfect to prepare Chalsee for ministry here at Camp Daniel, as she assists Trish in the garden and in the kitchen!! There will also be art projects continually going on, as art is a big part of what we do at camp.

Chalsee wanted to let everyone know that she may seem shy at first, but once you get to know her, she will talk ALOT.

Chalsee is grateful to all those who helped her achieve her goals and reach her dreams. We are all happy to have Chalsee with us and excited to continue to watch her grow into the woman God has created her to be.
